Video: Introducing Fitbit Coach

Select your trainer

Your personal trainer is the expert who will guide you through the body weight workout videos.

Take the Fit Test

Set aside about 10 minutes to take this physical assessment. After each move, you’re asked to rate its difficulty and how well you kept up. Fitbit Coach tailors future workouts based on this feedback.

Explore the different types of workouts

There are currently three ways to find your fit with Fitbit Coach, all of which will be logged in the Fitbit app giving you credit toward your weekly exercise goal: 1. Programs are a themed group of workouts tailored to your fitness level and ability. There are currently four: Get Moving, Get Lean, Get Strong, and Daily Dose. Program progress is saved, so you can pick up where you left off. You can also change your program at any time. 2. Workouts: These dynamic body weight workout videos increase or decrease in difficulty based on your feedback overtime. Fitbit research shows 85 percent of people who use these video workouts for at least five sessions see an increase in strength. 3. Audio Coaching consists of expert-developed running and walking workouts with audio cues designed to help you safely improve your endurance, speed, and form. Choose from outdoor or treadmill sessions and select the difficulty, duration, trainer, and music. Your workouts will be automatically recorded in the Fitbit app. Since audio workouts are designed to be listened to, they’re only available in the Fitbit Coach app.

Get to know your settings

Your settings are where you can adjust things like which personal trainer you’re working with, and whether you want things like subtitles, exercise tips, and a repetition count to show on screen during your sessions.

Stream Fitbit Coach video workouts to your TV

The bigger screen can make it easier for you to follow along. If you’re using an iPhone, iPad, or iPad Touch use AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring to stream content to your Apple TV or other AirPlay-enabled device. (To learn more, see Apple’s help article.) If your Fitbit Coach app is on an Android phone, use Chromecast to play your workout on a TV. (To learn more, see Google’s help article.)

Choose your music

Stay motivated while you exercise by queuing up an energizing soundtrack. Fitbit Radio powered by feed.fm lets you choose from seven music playlists with tracks by popular artists. Choose from Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Electronic/Dance, Throwback (80’s, 90’s, 2000’s), Power Mix, and Cardio Mix. You can change your music during a workout at any time. From the workout preview screen in the app, tap the music icon. While in a workout on the Fitbit Coach website, click the name of the song currently playing in the upper-right corner.

Wear your Fitbit device

Every day in the “Guidance” section of your Fitbit app and on the Fitbit Coach homepage, you’ll get suggested exercises based on your fitness level, goals, input, and recent Fitbit activity. For example, if you did a bike ride yesterday, the app might suggest a workout session that targets your abs, arms, and chest so your legs can recover. So, the more you wear your Fitbit tracker and complete Fitbit Coach workouts, the more information your account will have, and the smarter your workout recommendations become.

Skip or repeat moves

In the Fitbit Coach app, to skip a move, tap or click the screen and press the skip icon. To restart a move, press the back icon. Do the same with your cursor when using the Fitbit Coach website. If you don’t see the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, just move your cursor onto the window.

Refer a friend

You get a free month of Fitbit Coach Premium when a friend you referred signs up for a Premium account*. In the iOS app, you can find your unique referral code by tapping the menu icon and then selecting “Refer Friends.” On the Fitbit Coach website, click your name in the navigation bar at the top of the screen, click “Settings,” and scroll down to “Referral Code.” And don’t forget: You can connect with Friends in the Fitbit Coach app by tapping the menu icon and then “Friends.”
