Two Main Features of the New Released Windows 10 Preview Build 19608

By WILLIAM GOHEEN

This week, Microsoft has just released a new minor update version for Windows 10 insiders. The Windows 10 insider Preview Build 19608 was released on April 15, 2020, and in this version, two key features you cannot miss.

1. Update to search default apps for file types, protocols, and apps.

This feature in the Windows 10 19608 aims to improve users' default apps experience. And this change offers more flexibility for Win 10 users to set the default apps with their devices. In the previous Windows 10 versions, users can view the apps by file types, protocols and apps, but can not search for the specific ones they need, but now that can be achieved.

And the set default by app function in this Windows 10 19608 is alike the previous version. Users can go to the Setting > Apps > Default Apps to try this new feature. It's said that, at present, this change is only available for about 50% Win 10 Insiders in the Fast ring as Microsoft is still evaluating the quality.

2. Drag and Drop File with Your Phone App Easily

Currently, to enhance the partnership with Samsung, Microsoft adds this file drag and drop features for Samsung smartphone, but before using this feature, Win 10 users should know these limitations:

drag and drop file feature in windows 10

1). File drag and drop requires a Samsung device running Link To Windows version 1.5 or higher. Your phone and PC must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network to realize the wireless file transfer. No cable is needed.

2). Win 10 users can drag and drop all file types apart from the folders.

3). The file size is up to 100 at a time, and the single file cannot be larger than 512MB in size.

4). Users should open the Your Phone app on the PC and go to the Phone Screen, no matter when they're transferring content from your phone to PC, or your PC to phone.

5). Users can not minimize the Your Phone app during the drag and drop file process, or the transfer process will be canceled automatically.

Except for the limitations, if you cannot find this new feature in your smartphone, don't worry, it may need several days to update it in Your Phone app as it is gradually rolling out.
